How we report, and how we correct.

We work from the record: league and club announcements, official documents, competition rules and match results. When a piece states a fact, it links to where the fact comes from, so you can check it yourself. When we could not confirm something, the piece says so instead of guessing.

The numbers across the site are counted from match and season records, never typed in by hand, and historical records are checked against more than one source before they are published. Where a record is thin or sources disagree, the page says that too.

Every piece in The Latest carries a byline and a publication date, and every writer has a page listing what they cover and what they have written. Some contributors write under a pen name; their page says so plainly. Staff pieces carry the outlet's name.

Essays and arguments are the writer's own view. Facts inside them are held to the same sourcing as a news piece.

The image at the top of a piece is an illustration made for that piece and is credited as one. It is not a news photograph and is never presented as one.

If we get something wrong, we fix it as soon as we have checked it, and a correction that changes the meaning of a piece is noted on the piece with the date. Tell us at info@footyandco.com; a link to the source that shows the error helps us move faster.
